The Story
On a cold Christmas morning, a Victorian home is made warmer by the romantic gift of a lovable Cocker Spaniel puppy named Lady.

The Artwork
This is a limited edition of hand-inked, hand-painted character cel set-ups from Walt Disney's classic animated feature Lady and the Tramp (1955). This cel set-up, "Little Lady," is inspired by Sequence One, Scene 9 of the film originally animated by Les Clark.

The Walt Disney Studios has created the artwork from this sequence using traditional animation techniques whereby enhanced original animation drawings were transferred to acetate cels usign 12 hand-inked lines. The cels which were then each hand painted with 20 Disney-approved acrylic colors and accented with one special-effects color. The background scene accompanying this cel has been recreated by Disney artists using original layouts, sketches and frames from the film as reference.

Lady and the Tramp was inspired by the pet of veteran Disney story man Joe Grant. For many years during his initial stay at the Disney Studio (1937-1949), Grant tried to develop the story of a pampered Cocker Spaniel pup, told from the point of view of the dog. The Disney staff began developing the story about a Spaniel pup when Walt happened across a story by Ward Greene, a newspaper editor, called "Happy Dan, the Whistling Dog." The raffish tramp, Dan, provided the inspirational connection that resulted in Lady and the Tramp.
