The Story Cheerful sunbursts - rivaled by the beaming smile on Mickey's face - proclaim the lively beginning of another adventure with Mickey Mouse.
The Artwork This limited edition sericel depicts Walt Disney's beloved character Mickey Mouse. This sericel edition was inspired by the sunny opening title cards of Mickey's classis Technicolor short cartoons. Oddly, although she took a featured role in so many cartoon shorts, Minnie was never given her own cartoon "star label." Mickey Mouse (of course), Donald Duck, Goofe - even Pluto - got their own "sunburst" starring title cards in the Technicolor shorts produced regularly from 1932 until 1965, but not poor Minnie...unitl now.
The 1930's was Mickey's Golden Age. Of Mickey's 118 short cartoons, Disney produced 87 in that decade. Mickey played everything from fireman to giant killer, cowboy to inventor, detective to plumber. Technically and artistically, Mickey Mouse cartoons were far superior to other contemporary cartoons and gave life to an entire family of animated characters. Their artistic success was honored with academy Award to Walt Disney in 1932. In 1999, Mickey will return to television with his first animated series since the 1950's - Disney's Mickey MouseWorks. This series will capture the style of the 30s and 40s, including an updated version of this classic title card.
