Disney's 75th Anniversary
|
|
The Story From their endearing charm to their faithful spirit and giving hearts, Disney Princesses have inspired us all to believe in our dreams.
The Artwork This is a limited edition anniversary-themed sericel depicting Disney's most beloved princesses, Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Cinderella from Cinderella (1950), Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty (1959), Belle from Beauty and the Beast (1991), Ariel from The Little Mermaid (1989), and Jasmine from Aladdin (1992).
The Walt Disney Studios has created this character image using the fine art screen-printing process of color reproduction known as serigraphy. Disney artists specially created a hand-inked, hand-painted animation cel master which was used in the production of these sericels. A total of 35 colors are used to recreate the color image, each of which has been exactingly screen-printed, one color at a time, onto the acetate cel. This limited edition was produced in 1998 to commemorate The Walt Disney Company's 75th Anniversary.
"Disney's Parade of Princesses" showcases the beauty and majesty that all Disney Princesses share, plus the special qualities that make each one enchantingly unique and completely unforgettable. Strong heroines have been the singular basis of many classic Disney films. As Walt Disney once said, "To capture our varied and worldwide audience of all ages, the nature and treatment of the fairytale, the legend, the myth, has to be elementally simple. Good and evil, the antagonists of all great drama in some guise, must be believably personalized."
