Color Model The original hand-painted prototype cel used as the master color sheet to produce sericels. Only 1 to 3 color models are made per sericel image; with one being permanently archived by The Walt Disney Company. The remining are made available through Disney Preferred Galleries, like World Wide Art, on a very limited basis.
The Story The silently suffering Crickee puts up with more of Mushu's shenanigans in a scene from Disney's Mulan. Disney's Mulan is notable for several reasons, not the least of which is that it represents the first Disney animated feature to be based on an Asian folktale - the legend of Fa-Mulan. Featuring the voices of Ming-Na Wen, Eddie Murphy, and B.D. Wong, among others, it tells the story of a young girl, Mulan, who dons men's clothing in order to go to war in her father's place. Making her way in a man's world, Mulan not only succeeds, but becomes a hero by saving China from the Mongol invaders. Along the way, she is aided by Mushu, a wisecracking dragon, and Crickee, a cricket who, while silent, manages to express himself eloquently - especially when Mushu is misbehaving.
The Artwork This is a limited edition sericel depicting Mushu and Crickee and inspired by a scene from the animated feature Disney's Mulan (1998). These sericels are reproductions of a hand-inked, hand-painted animation cel master specially created by artists at The Walt Disney Studios Ink and Paint Department. The master cel was used as a reference in the production of these sericels. A total of 20 colors were then used to recreate the color image, each of which has been exactingly screen-printed, one color at a time, onto the acetate cel.
