Walt Disney Limited Editions - Cinderella - A Charming Couple
|
|
The Story Resplendent in her enchanting ball gown, Cinderella waltzes with Prince Charming in the palace garden. Beneath a romantic sky overflowing with sparkling stars, the handsome couple – each unaware of the other's identity – dance at this dream-come-true royal ball as Cinderella feels she can "touch every star in the sky."
The Artwork This hand-inked, hand-painted limited-edition cel is inspired by Sequence 4.0, Scene 62.1 from Walt Disney's Cinderella (1950). In creating the moonlit, Elysian-like royal gardens, the Disney artists set the stage for one of the world's most famous and beloved romances. Conceptual artist Mary Blair color-keyed and explored staging for this central scene in thumbnail paintings that experimented with mood, color and composition. Walt Disney personally visited Blair's New York State studio to discuss her handsomely dynamic conceptual paintings. Set to the liltingly romantic song "So This is Love," this stylized and tender moment typifies the world's favorite fairy tale about the scullery main-turned-princess and her dreams of love finally come true.
Produced in the tradition of the Walt Disney Studios Ink and Paint Department, each cel features 6 hand-inked line color, 15 paint colors and 2 special effect colors and is paired with a fine-art giclee background inspired by the original animation painted used in production of the film. The hand-inked, hand-painted cels were created from a drawing inspired by the original animation drawings of this animation cartoon.
As a special addition, the artwork has been framed in the same style as many fine art pieces. The giclee's deckle edges are exposed, and the background is floated between two separate mats so that the artistry of the work can be fully seen and appreciated. This is a unique effect in animation art. The final result is a graceful portrait of the loveliest of Disney's fairy tale princesses as she falls in love with the most charming of princes.
