Walt Disney Limited Editions - Mary Poppins - Tea Time with Mary
|
|
The Story On a magical "Jolly Holiday" into the fantasy world of Bert's chalk pavement picture, Mary Poppins and Bert find a picturesque tea shop, complete with an unusual group of penquin table waiters.
The Artwork This is a xerographic-line, ink-enhanced, hand-painted limited edition cel set-up conveying a moment from Walt Disney's classic musical feature Mary Poppins (1964). This cel set-up, "Tea Time with Mary," is inspired by Sequence One, Scene 62 of the film.
The backgroud scene accompanying this cel reproduces the combination animation / live-action background of the film, as well as images of the two live-action stars - Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke as Bert. As a finishing touch, each piece has been personally signed by Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
In casting the role of the magical nanny, a young star of the Broadway stage, Julie Andrews, was brought to Hollywood by Disney. Although she had charmed Broadway in My Fair Lady and Camelot, Mary Poppins was her first film, and she won the 1964 Best Actress Academy Award for her work.
