As the townsfolk gather beneath the Cathedral of Notre Dame to turn Paris ‘upsy-daisy’ on the Feast of Fools, Quasimodo has ventures out into public for the first time. The gentle hunchback witnesses things he has never experiences before, including the mesmerizing dance of the bewitching gypsy Esmeralda (plussed with pewter and glass). To Quasimodo’s amazement, Clopin, the colorfully enigmatic master of ceremonies, crowns the hunchback King of Fools, and everything is indeed ‘Topsy-Turvy.’
