The Story
This is a specially created sericel reproducing original character model-sheet poses used in the making of Walt Disney's classic animated feature Peter Pan (1953) with poses fully painted to bring the character of Tinker Bell to life. The design of an animated character is a lengthy collaborative process, involving the talents of many artists. Once a final character design has been reached, a model sheet is created showing several different poses, angles and expressions of the final character design. Because several animators will work on a single character, the model sheet is a helpful guide in providing consistency in the drawings. This sericel, entitled "Pixie Poses," captures this original look and personality of the beloved Tinker Bell.

The Artwork
Disney artists have recreated this artwork using the fine art screen-printing process of color reproduction known as serigraphy. Artists of The Walt Disney Studios Ink and Paint Department specially created a hand-inked, hand-painted animation cel master which was used as a reference in the production of these sericels.

In the stage versions of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell is just a projected beam of light. The pixie was first given human form in the 1926 Paramount silent-film version of Peter Pan, in which an actress named Virginia Brown Faire played her.
