Walt Disney Art Classics - Cinderella - A Lovely Dress for Cinderelly

|
The Story To help their friend, Cinderella's mouse and bird companions decide that they can get her to the Royal Ball by making her a lovely dress to wear.
The Artwork This is a limited edition sericel inspired by a key moment from Walt Disney's Cinderella (1950). This sericel edition, "A Lovely Dress for Cinderelly," combines elements of Sequences 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5 from Walt Disney's classic animated features to create a representative scene. The Walt Disney Studios has recreated these character images using fine art screen-printing process of color reproduction known as serigraphy. Disney artists working from the original animation drawings used for the production of Cinderella, as well as from film reference materials, have translated the original image to a hand-inked, hand-painted cel used in the production of these sericels. A total of 33 colors were used to recreate the color image, each of which has been exactingly screen-printed, one color at a time, onto the acetate cel.
The creation of animal friends for Cinderella - the mice and birds - helped the audience immediately identify with the heroine and see her caring nature and warmth. At the same time, it gave the animators supporting and alternate means of expressing Cinderella's state of mind and of heightening drama, as well as a rich source for gags and clever business (such as that represented in "A Lovely Dress for Cinderelly.") |
