"The teenage years are often hard times to live through and to look back on. At eighteen I drew a self-portrait. It hangs in a hallway at my home. Whenever I walk by this drawing I can't help but give him a nod and be thankful that he made the decision at that time to become an artist. I'll be forever grateful to him."

"Now I have a teenage son. When he was two I painted him playing with one of my guitars in 'Musical Appreciation'. 'It's His Time Now' is an update. He sits in my studio. Behind him is the music I have collected since I was his age. He plays his electric guitar with his back to all this history. Will he be influenced by it. To the right are the acoustic guitars I play, the same ones that were in 'Musical Appreciation'. They lean against antique drawers and on the wall is a painting of my great-great-grandmother."
