Peter Ellenshaw brings his mastery of painting to works that are available as limited edition, fine art prints. Describing his technique as "impressionistic shorthand," Peter is renowned for his ability to capture light with paint, and for the suggestion of detail in a way both fanciful and real, painterly and nearly photographic. In the paintings based on his matte work for Mary Poppins, Peter has painted romanticized, birds-eye views of Edwardian London. Incredible details are evident in both but, as in the film, the paintings are what Peter terms "fantasy-based." Certain landmarks such as St. Paul's Cathedral are painted in exaggerated scale to indicate the magical brand of reality that is at the heart of Mary Poppins.
