"This painting provided me with the opportunity to portray three strong and resolute Cheyenne warriors in a simple setting of tranquility which belied with the very nature of their responsibilities as providers and protectors of their women, children and old people," says artist Howard Terpning. "Even though it is said that they never numbered more than 3,500 people, the Cheyenne had strict social rules and strong warrior societies that made them a force to be reckoned with."

Known as the "Storyteller of the Native American," Terpning helps to keep the Native American heritage alive with authenticity, respect and admiration. As the most renowned and honored Western artist painting today, Terpning's work is treasured by collectors for the timeless stories they tell. "The more I study the American Indian, the more intrigued I become," says Terpning. "There's always another story waiting to be told and I feel it is a privilege to be able to paint it."
