Dave Barnhouse - The Spirit of Giving

With the sell out of "The Spirit of Giving," more than $30,000.00 will be donated to support the many important on-going community activities of The Salvation Army.

In this beautiful image by on of America's favorite artists we witness a warm episode in small town life. The local farmer on his Oliver tractor has donated time and equipment for the annual Salvation Army sponsored holiday hayride. On this chilly evening the wagon has stopped at The Salvation Army building on Main Street for a cup of hot chocolate. After a brief rest they will continue their ride, laughing and shouting, through the snowy streets, creating fond memories for the watching adults. This nostalgic painting reminds us that young people are the precious resource of an entire community, and that The Salvation Army is "on guard" not only in times of crisis, but also in the quieter moments of everyday life.
