Dave Barnhouse - Coming Home
As the sun sets silently beyond the treeline, we are witness to one of life's joyful times. Months ago the family lovingly tied a yellow ribbon 'round the large oak tee and just this week thier soldier has retuned home. Now farmlife will return to normal. The relic tractor, a 1936 John Deere D, provides a refuge for rabbits and small creatures. You can almost hear the turkeys considering whether or not they should leave the shelter of their hiding place. Outside the barn, two men are probably "talking turkey" the price of grain, the latest doings of the school board, local politics and more.
"Dusk is my favorite part of the day," Dave Barnhouse comments as he views the finished painting. "The special joys of country living haven't changed that much and on such a balmy, fall evening, nobody wants to be in the house." |
